Lifestyle Medicine involves the use of evidence-based lifestyle therapeutic approaches, such as a predominately whole food plant-based diet, regular physical activity, adequate sleep, stress management, avoidance of risky substance use, and other non-drug modalities, to prevent, treat, and oftentimes reverse the lifestyle-related, chronic disease that’s all too prevalent.  (American College of Lifestyle Medicine)

Lifestyle Medicine, at its very core, promotes health performance. As you apply lifestyle medicine principles to your life (you perform), lifestyle becomes medicine as it moves you toward health and away from disease (your health performs) and you are more able to perform your best throughout life. 

Why does it matter?

More than 45 percent of the US population has at least one chronic disease.  Chronic diseases are the leading cause of death and disability in the United States.  Most of these diseases are lifestyle-related.  Therefore lifestyle interventions are the key that has the power to unlock and open the door to the prevention of and healing from the many chronic diseases that take years from your lives and life from your years.
